Alibaba released Qwen 2.5, a comprehensive family of open-source language models ranging from 0.5B to 72B parameters. The flagship Qwen2.5-72B-Instruct outperformed Llama 3.1 405B on several benchmarks while being much smaller. The release included specialized coding and math models, plus multimodal variants (Qwen2-VL, Qwen2-Audio), showcasing Alibaba's commitment to open AI development.
